Glenavon under 16s opened their league campaign with a convincing 4-0 win over Gilford Crusaders. Glenavon got off to a great start when Copes fired a shot in from1 2 yards into the top right hand corner. Minutes later a great ball from Toman released Copes who squared it to McGivern to make it 2-0 at half time. The second half was pretty much the same with pressure from Glenavon and some stubborn defending from Gilford.
Glenavon then added number 3 with some nice play in midfield between Toman and McGarry who sent Copes through to score his second of the game. Copes completed his hat trick with Glenavon’s fourth goal turning in from close range. Best of the day for Glenavon were Toman and McGarry in midfield and Copes with 3 well taken goals.
