Glenavon 3-0 Coleraine

Glenavon clinched their first home won of the season with an impressive 3-0 victory over Coleraine.

After a cagey opening to the game the first real chance came from an Eoin Bradley free kick from the edge of the box which Coleraine Keeper Doherty did well to push around the post. Joel Cooper’s deep cross then found the onrushing Andy Hall whose header went over the bar. Hall didn’t have to wait much longer for a goal however, as he released Bradley who broke clear before unselfishly squaring to Hall who swept home on 28 minutes. Rhys Marshall almost doubled the lead only to see his effort come back off the post.

Coleraine looked the more dangerous side in the opening 15 minutes of the second half and piled the pressure on however Lindsay and Dillon dealt with it well. August Player of the Month Jonathan Tuffey also snuffed out any danger dealing well with a series of corners. Kyle Neill’s free kick then evaded everybody with the ball coming back off the post. Hall thought he had his and Glenavon’s 2nd of the day when his corner when straight in only to be ruled out for a foul. A few minutes later it was 2-0, with an almost identical Hall corner being glanced in by Rhys Marshall at the back post on 70 minutes.

Player Manager Gary Hamilton introduced himself on 80 minutes and it was he and fellow sub Andy McGrory who were involved in the 3rd with the Hamilton laying off Marshall’s pull back for McGrory with his 1st touch to smash home a well deserved 3rd.
