Convery Signs for Glenavon

With most of the Club’s central defenders currently out injured Gary Hamilton has moved to fill the gap at the back by signing experienced defender John Convery from Cliftonville on a short-term contract until the end of the season.

Convery, 31, started as a youngster at Glenavon before moving to Glasgow Celtic. He returned to sign for Portadown in 2004 where he remained until moving to Newry City in 2010. He then signed for Cliftonville in the Summer of 2011 making his debut for the Solitude side in a league game against Portadown in August.
