The Club’s under 17 side will hope to make it a very happy New Year on Friday 1st when they take on Ards in the final of this season’s Lisburn League Shield.
The side, under the capable stewardship of Davy Maguire, have a fine record in this competition with this year’s final being their third in succession and indeed they are the current holder’s having defeated Glentoran in last season’s showpiece.
The boy’s have had to do it the hard way this time round defeating Glentoran 4-3 in an epic battle in the quarter final before a very tense semi final when they managed to hold their nerve in a penalty shoot out to overcome Crusaders.
The final takes place on Friday morning at 11am at Rushmore in Lisburn, the home of Ballymacash Ranger’s and I’m sure Davy and the boy’s would welcome your support on the day.

A pitch inspection will be made later today at New Grosvenor ahead of tonight’s Carling Premiership match which is scheduled for a 7:45pm kick off. At the moment the pitch is reported to be very hard and the groundsman is not very hopeful unless there is a considerable rise in temperature.
Tonight’s game has been called off following a pitch inspection.

Glenavon has today completed the signing of former Dublin City defender Hugh Davey. “I’m delighted to have Hugh on board” Marty Quinn told us today. “I’ve been very impressed with him during training and he’ll add strength to our defence, being able to play as a left back or left sided central defender.”
The 24 year old Newry man was a team mate of Gavin McDonnell at the now defunct Dublin City club and has played for Northern Ireland at Under-21 level.

Despite the best efforts of ground staff and a considerable number of supporters who turned up to help, an inspection at 11:30am found the pitch to be unplayable due to areas of compacted snow and sections where it was frozen.
The Club is very grateful to the volunteers who kindly assisted in trying to allow the game to go ahead.
The Draw for the 3-2-1 Xmas Draw will now take place at the Newry game on January 2nd.
