The Board if Directors is seeking supporters willing to help launch the club’s major fundraising initiative for 2009 – the exciting nationwide gameshow “Who Wants To Be A Thousandaire” – which is planned for early November.

Supporters would work as part of one of ten three-person teams. Attendance at several short meetings between late August and the early November would be required and this is a unique opportunity for supporters with enthusiasm, a flair for fundraising and a desire to assist the club to become actively involved in what has the potential to be one of Glenavon’s biggest ever fundraisers.
Supporters who are interested, or keen to get further information about the gameshow, should contact any club director or visit the “Who Wants To Be A Thousandaire” desk in the boardroom during next Thursday’s “Open Night”.

Glenavon drew the penultimate pre-season friendly 1-1 against Donegal Celtic at a very wet Celtic Park this evening. Adrian Harper gave Glenavon an early lead when he tapped home from close range after good work by Tony Grant. The home side equalised in the latter stages of the second half of what was largely an undistinguished game.

Gerard McMahon is the latest to join the “Friends of Glenavon Century Club” – Glenavon’s new prize draw, limited to 100 members, which offers £8,000 in prizemoney throughout the 2009/10 season and commences next month – and he didn’t even have to apply!
Gerard was presented with membership last Friday evening by the Board of Directors in addition to their sponsorship of his testimonial game against St Johnstone.
Incidentally, Century Club membership is selling very well and supporters wishing to join should do so without delay. Entry forms can be obtained from any club director or the club offices and at the Club’s “Open Night” on Thursday 6 August and don’t forget that you can also subscribe online at the Glenavon webshop.
