Blues News has finished third in the Northern Ireland Programme of the Year awards.
“I’m absolutely chuffed to bits that we’ve finished in the top three,” Publications Editor Michael Scott said.
“This really is a testiment to all the hard graft that the boys behind the programme put in. My thanks go to Gareth Hanna, Andrew Sinnamon, William Steele, Philip Hawthorne, Kyle Weir and Alan Boal for all their help over the past season.
“This has made us even more determined to make the programme even better next season and push for bigger and better honours.”
The award is decided by the Northern Ireland Programme Collectors Club, who meet each month at the Ozone Tennis Centre, Ormeau Park, Belfast. The news was announced at the NI Programme and Memorabilia Fair held at St George’s Market in the city today (Saturday). There were plenty of bargains to be had on the day with programmes from past Glenavon games on offer.
The Glentoran Gazette were the eventual winners with Look at Linfield second – congratulations to both programme teams.

Goalkeeper Robert Robinson has left Glenavon by mutual consent. Marty Quinn met with the keeper, who had a year left on his contract, over the weekend and both parties reached agreement on his release with effect from today.
Robinson put in some excellent performances between the sticks last season and had at times been playing through the pain barrier after returning from an ankle injury sustained earlier in the season.
Best wishes for the future ‘Goose’.

It's your chance to have your say about the programme.
The football might be over but the team behind ‘Blues News’, Glenavon’s official matchday programme, are already planning for next season.
In conjunction with the Board they are working hard at improving last season’s effort with plans for new features, and a new look to commemorate the club’s 120th anniversary.
But the team needs your help and input. Is there anything you’d like to see in next season’s programme? Would you scrap anything from last season? Would you like to contribute to the programme or even help selling on a matchday?
“Our hard working programme team are always coming up with ideas for improving ‘Blues News’,” said Publications Editor Michael Scott.
“At the end of the day it’s the public who buy the programme so we want to hear what they want in the programme.”
If you have any suggestions email Michael at editor@glenavonfc.com

The Glenavon Golf Classic, sponsored by Lurgan Credit Union, was a huge success with blue skies all the way on Friday afternoon at Lurgan Golf Club!
The event, which was a closely contested affair with 18 teams taking part, was eventually won by none other than the Glenavon FC Team comprised of First Team players Ryan Harpur and Gary Liggett, Club Chaplain William Orr and Jonathon Swift, son of Glenavon Director George Swift.
The winning team carded 91 Stableford points and pipped the Waringstown Cricket Team only by virtue of a better back nine score. Third place went to the Dickson and Henderson Team who finished just one point adrift.
The evening was brilliantly rounded off with a small raffle and some hilarious comedy from local comedian Gene Fitzpatrick!
Organiser Ian Irwin would like to thank everyone who supported the event by playing in the Golf Classic along with the Credit Union who sponsored the day and the many tee and green sponsors, too numerous to mention! Ian is also grateful to Roy Hanna Jnr for looking after the registrations and the score cards upon completion of the rounds.
