Glenavon Reserves line-up at The Showgrounds included six members of the first team squad – Andrew Plummer, Paul Carvill, Mark Gracey, Ryan Harpur, Eamon Murray and Gary Liggett. Also in the starting eleven was Paul McKnight making his first competitive appearance in two years. Ryan Watson took charge of the team in the absence of Neil Adair – whose wife and he are learning to cope with the arrival of triplets!
Glenavon had the better of the opening half, should have gone in ahead at the interval and surely would have done so had chances been taken. A highlight of the first half was a stunning Andrew Plummer save from Coleraine’s Kyle McVey. Glen Clarke gave Glenavon a deserved lead midway through the second half only for Davy Patton to slam home the equaliser with 10 minutes to go.
It was an entertaining game, watched by Glenavon manager Marty Quinn. Coleraine was a little fortunate to draw over the 90 minutes but finished the stronger and could have won it at the death after substitutions meant the experienced McKnight, Murray and Harpur had left the play.
Glenavon Reserves next game is on Monday evening at Mourneview Park when Glentoran IIs provide the opposition.
